INDUSTRY:

The oil indsutry is one of the key factors in the economy of Lesotho despite no commercial oil or gas deposits. The industry is based on the downstream oil sector. There are few natural resources, however Lesotho does export water to South Africa and produces a small quantity of diamonds.

The majority of the population is employed in subsistence agriculture and a large percentage of the male population workforce is employed in the mines and other industries in South Africa. The number is falling due to the growth potential of the manufacturing sector of the economy.

There is a relatively new mining industry which is mining for established deposits of uranium and there is also a diamond mine.

An effective tool when trading within Lesotho are credit status reports or company searches. Company information will include registration details, credit opinion, locations and financial information, where available.
