INDUSTRY:
Agriculture is the largest employer in Kenya with three quarters of the workforce involved in this industry. The principal crops are tea, wheat, barley, coffee, sisal, cashew nuts, maize and tropical fruits and vegetables. Kenya is the world largest tea exporter.
Kenya’s oil industry is one of the key elements in the economy of the country with a growing market for petroleum products. Hydroelectric power has been developed and the country is also self sufficient in electric power.
The tourism and horticultural sectors are growing to become the country's most important sources of foreign exchange. There is a growing industrial sector including a variety of industries processing manufactured goods from local and imported raw materials.
