INDUSTRY:

The economy of the country is based on exports, tourism and other service industries. The manufacturing industry is limited to groundnut processing, metal fabrications, paints, furniture, soap and bottling. There is also a fledgling mining industry and a small oil industry, however the country does rely on imports of oil products.

The chief agricultural products are groundnuts, cotton, rice, millet, sorghum and maize.

Despite shocks to the economy, it has grown and stability is being sustained.

The Gambia has a fledgling mining industry and its oil industry is small and depends on the importation of all petroleum products.
