INDUSTRY:

The economy is dependent on oil and mineral resources such as uranium and manganese. The oil industry is the country’s major source of foreign exchange while the mining industry is also key.

80% of the country is forested and therefore has considerable timber reserves which are commercially exploited and exported. Forestry is the second major industry and provides employment for a significant part of the population.
