INDUSTRY:

Agriculture is the major industry employing approximately, 80% of the workforce and the principal crops are maize, barley, sorghum, wheat, pulses and oil seeds.

Ethiopia’s oil industry is an important sector in the economy. There is also substantial energy, natural gas and associated liquid reserves with development potential. The mining industry is also a significant sector with unexploited reserves of gold, platinum, copper and potash.

The economy has grown stronger due to the transition to a market-based economy.
