INDUSTRY:

The oil industry is key to the economy of the country as Djibouti has become a regional supply centre for petroleum products. Djibouti serves as a free trade zone in Northern Africa.

Three quarters of the workforce are employed in agriculture. Dates are grown in small areas and there is a small fishing industry. Sea salt is also an important natural resource.
