INDUSTRY:

Agriculture and forestry are key elements in the economy with coffee and timber being the largest exports. The country is self-sufficient in terms of food and the principal crops grown are maize, groundnuts, rice, millet, cassava and sesame.

Key industries include mining and oil while the livestock industry is growing. There is a small manufacturing industry which deals with local consumers.

The Central African Republic has the potential to be a popular tourist destination with rainforest and savannah regions which could be utilised to bring in foreign exchange. This should be possible once the tousism infrastructure has been put in place.
